What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make sites work, or work more efficiently, and to provide information to the site owner. We also use related technologies such as browser storage (localStorage and sessionStorage) and pixel beacons; for clarity we refer to all of them as “cookies” on this page.
Pictures from other sites
Some pages show pictures loaded straight from other companies’ servers, which then receive your IP address and standard browser details: the /research-buddy and /learning-buddy pages show photos from Pexels (images.pexels.com), and a page that shows a video loads its preview picture from YouTube (Google, i.ytimg.com) when the page opens, before you press play. Your cookie choices don’t control these requests.
Categories we use
We group cookies into three categories you can choose between, plus the cookies YouTube sets if you play a video embedded on our site. You can change which categories you allow at any time using the button below.
Necessary
Required for core functionality such as signing in, security, remembering your cookie choice, and a few settings kept only while your tab is open. These cannot be disabled.

Analytics
Help us understand usage so we can improve the product. These cookies are not set until you accept. Before that, Google's tag (Analytics and Google Ads measurement) still loads on every visit, in a cookie-free mode (Google Consent Mode v2, with consent denied), and sends Google cookieless signals such as page views and sign-up conversion events.

Marketing
Used to measure the effectiveness of our advertising on third-party platforms. Accepting Marketing also lets Google use your visit to personalize ads (remarketing). These cookies, and the TikTok and LinkedIn tags, stay off until you accept; until then, Google Ads measurement relies only on the cookieless signals described under Analytics.

Embedded video
A page that shows a video loads its preview picture from YouTube (Google, i.ytimg.com) when the page opens, which sends YouTube your IP address and browser details. The YouTube player itself loads only when you press play, and YouTube may then set the cookies below. Your cookie choices here don't control either — not pressing play keeps the player (and its cookies) off.
